The surgery is closed between 6.00pm and 8.00am and at weekends. During these times and Out of Hours service is provided by the Primary Care Trust (PCT). The telephone number for this service is 111 or between 6.00-6.30 p.m 0845 056 8060
When speaking to the Out of Hours doctor please give your name, address and phone number clearly and slowly. Say what your medical problem is. The doctor may give you advice on what to do or may decide you need a visit.
Give directions on how to find your house. This is particularly important, as the doctor on call may not be your own doctor. Make sure your house has a number or a name that can be clearly seen. Make sure the doctor can get into your home. If it is dark, leave a light on which can be seen from outside. If it is safe to do so, open a door and have someone looking out.
