Clinics & Services

Well Baby Clinics

These clinics are for the routine vaccinations of babies and young children.  The clinics are run by the practice Nursing Team.  The first baby vaccination at 8 weeks of age is usually booked with the doctor.

Maternity Care

Antenatal and postnatal services are available at all surgeries. Please ask for details at reception.  

Contraceptive Services

Most aspects are available, including fitting of coils and caps. Advice is available from the nurse or doctor.  

Cervical Smears

These can be booked with the practice nurse. Please state that a smear is required as more time is allocated.  

Minor Surgery

Different doctors have different specialities.  Please ask for details at reception.

Asthma & Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease 

Our practice Nursing Team run regular clinics.  Please book at reception.

Diabetic

Patients should make an appointment with the Diabetic doctor annually and an appointment with the Diabetic nurse between annual appointments.  

Healthy Heart Clinic

This is for patients who have a known heart problem. You will receive a letter from the practice nurse when it is felt necessary for you to attend this clinic.  

Smoking Cessation Clinic

An appointment can be made with the practice nurse or our Health Care Assistant for advice on stopping smoking.  

Weight Reduction Clinic

Appointments can be made to see a practice nurse or our Health Care Assistant if you would like advice on losing weight. Please inform the receptionist that this is the reason for the appointment.  

Cryosurgery Clinic 

Are normally held monthly with Dr Buckley.  Please ask the receptionist for an appointment.

Private Services

There are some services that we provide that are not covered under the Health Service and for these there is a charge. These include: Private Medical Certificates, Driving Medicals, Employment Medicals and Reports, Health Insurance Reports, Claim Forms, passport validation and certain vaccinations. A full list of fees is displayed at all surgeries  

Travel Services

Our complete traveller service with the practice nurse provides up to date medical information for journeys outside the UK. The practice offers a full range of injections necessary for travel and is a recognised Yellow Fever vaccination centre. Please ask at reception for a form to complete giving your travel details and the practice nurse will get back to you with details. Please be aware some vaccinations have to be paid for.

If you think you may require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel please make a double appointment with the Practice Nurse. The Practice Nurses will assess whether we are able to help you, in some cases you may need to visit a specialist Travel clinic if we are unable to help you. We need to know which countries and areas within countries you are visiting to determine whih vaccinations are required. Please be aware that not all vaccinations are free and we may have to make a charge for some of your vaccinations.There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

It is important you make a double appointment with the Practice Nurse as early as possible - at least 8 weeks before you travel - as several appointments may be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. If the vaccines are to be charged for we will ask you to pay before we order the vaccines for you. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

We are a Yellow Fever Centre and can offer Yellow Fever vaccination to patients registered at this Practice and patients from other surgeries. We can only give Yellow Fever vaccinations at the Church Avenue Surgery (not at Hampsthwaite).

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
